I am so excited to say that I will be going to South America on the 4th of February! I went once to Bolivia for three weeks for a missions trip but this trip will be more of the backpacking type. My favorite way to travel :) My boyfriend and I will be arriving in Lima, Peru and flying out a few hours later for Easter Island. I have already found someone for us to stay with via Couch Surfing. If you've never couch surfed and don't know what it is, let me tell you because it's something I highly recommend! The website has a large amount of individuals all over the world willing to "lend you their couch", they'll give you a place to stay and often, they'll give you some of their time to show you around. The idea is that when you can, you will return the favor and offer your couch to those who might travel to your area. I've found it to be very useful and a great way to meet locals and understand their life.
But anyways, we'll be staying on Easter Island for about 5 days. It is the one location that I have always dreamt of going to!! I am so stoked. :))
After those few days, we'll be back to Peru and starting our journey around. We'll start with Cuzco and Machu Picchu and then hopefully into the rainforest and then south. Tyler really wants to go to the Salt Flats in Uyuni, Bolivia. They are supposed to be one of those most mesmerizing sights globally so we're hoping to fit that in! The pictures of them are incredible and if we make it I'll be sure to post photos of my own :) We will then come back up along the coast side of Peru, visiting Arequipa and the natural beauty surrounding the town, and we'll continue our journey up until we reach Lima again. We fly home on March 9th.
I'm very excited for this trip even though I'm the type who'd like to stay longer. This is as much time as Tyler can take and I am very grateful that he wants to travel and tag along! I got him a backpacking baackpack for Christmas and he is so in love with it! He's ready :) We're going to have a blast and I'll be sure to blog about it whenever I can! Cannot wait :)
